The two countries are already connected via a system of highways and two railway lines that are old and need upgrading on the Vietnam side. Earlier this month, Vietnam said it was seeking to learn from China to develop its first high-speed railway network and had sent its officials to work with Chinese railway companies. A massive high-speed railway line linking capital Hanoi with business hub Ho Chi Minh City is also being planned in the country. Cabaret has been integral to New York nightlife for more than a century, but every so often, reports of its death — however exaggerated — cause a stir. Recently on a brisk afternoon, she arrived at a loft in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, for a confab with four other veterans of the cabaret scene. Tammy Lang, 57 — who has earned a devoted following through her titular comedic persona as Tammy Faye Starlite, an evangelical country crooner, and through her homages to Marianne Faithfull and Nico — perched beside her on a sofa. Horne holds court Mondays at the East Village’s Club Cumming, playing piano for singalongs that stretch into the wee hours. Such late revelry is less common than it used to be, pointed out Sidney Myer, 73, who, as longtime booking manager of Don’t Tell Mama near Times Square, has nurtured careers for decades and is a performer himself.

NEW YORK (AP) — Carnegie Hall’s 2024-25 season will feature a festival celebrating Latin music titled “Nuestros Sonidos (Our Sounds).”Gustavo Dudamel opens the season and the festival on Oct. 8, leading the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. A dozen festival concerts were announced Wednesday and more will be added, with events throughout New York City. The London Symphony Orchestra, in its first season with chief conductor Antonio Pappano, plays at Carnegie Hall for the first time since 2005 when it performs on March 5, 2025. Pianist Igor Levit gives a Jan. 12 recital in which he performs Liszt’s transcription of Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony. Soprano Asmik Grigorian has a recital on Dec. 17, then returns March 18 for Strauss’ “Vier letzte Lieder (Four Last Songs)” with the Cleveland Orchestra and music director Franz Welser-Möst.
